Biography

Full lyric soprano, Megan Lindsey McDonald, is a native of Southern California. Megan received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from California State University, Northridge and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from California Lutheran University. She has sung internationally throughout Europe as well as frequently throughout Ventura and Los Angeles county.
She was the National Anthem singer for all of the 2018 California State University, Northridge graduation commencement ceremonies, as well as hired for numerous events such as the State of the City Gala for the mayor of Thousand Oaks at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

Ms. McDonald is currently a Walter Fox singer with The Verdi Chorus of Santa Monica since 2018 and will be showcased in their concert in February 2023.

June 2022 she joined Opera Santa Barbara for their production of Verdi’s LA TRAVIATA at the Granada Theater in Santa Barbara, California.

Summer 2020 through 2021, during covid, she created a digital performance of THE OLD MAID AND THE THIEF, playing Laetitia the feisty maid, as a personal project with new opera company Opera à la Mode.

Fall 2019, she debuted as the girl next door, Micaëla, in Bizet’s CARMEN with Vox Visceralis. Earlier that same year, she performed in The Fox Singer’s showcase event as Mimi in a concert version of LA BOHÈME’s Act III. The same month, she was one of eight singers chosen for a new opera presentation at LA Opera for a panel of directors including tenor Placido Domingo, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles.

May/June 2019 she performed as Despina with Mission Opera in COSÌ FAN TUTTE. In August, she took the stage with Pacific Opera Project in their production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s THE MIKADO as Pitty-Sing understudy.
February 2019, she debuted the role of Antonia in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN with Opera by the Glass.  

Summer 2018 she performed with the New York Lyric Opera Theatre throughout Manhattan, New York, at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and National Opera Center debuting as Susanna in Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO. Also with NYLOT, She performed scenes from Gounod’s ROMÈO ET JULIETTE, playing the part of Juliette, at the Lincoln Center in New York, as well as Fiordiligi from Mozart’s COSÌ FAN TUTTE at CARNEGIE HALL. 

While pursuing her graduate degree in Northridge, she had the pleasure of portraying Anne Page in Nicolai’s THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR and the jazz trio soprano in Bernstein’s TROUBLE IN TAHITI. During her undergrad experience, she was Ma Moss in Copland’s THE TENDERLAND at California Lutheran University.

Summer 2016, Megan was an artist with the Berlin Opera Academy where she played the role of Papagena in Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE. She lived in Berlin for six weeks while rehearsing with the academy and performed at the Babylon Theatre. She also visited Germany in 2015, touring with the California Lutheran University Choir through Dresden, Berlin, Leipzig, and Munich.

In 2012 she joined the El Dorado Opera Company for Menotti’s AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS with performances in Los Angeles and Long Beach, California. In 2009, Megan Lindsey worked alongside Daniel Catàn to premiere a special project of his opera LA HIJA DE RAPPACCINI with tenor, Daniel Montenegro at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.

Ms. McDonald began her love of music through chorale singing with various choral organizations. She has had the opportunity to sing Mozart’s SOLEMN VESPERS at Carnegie Hall in 2008, Vaughan William’s DONA NOBIS PACEM at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2009, and Gustav Mahler’s SYMPHONY NO. 8, alongside the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, at the Shrine Auditorium in 2012. She was a member of Wyant Morton’s Arète Vocal Ensemble for two seasons collaborating with the New West Symphony, as well as five seasons with the Los Robles Master Chorale under the direction of Lesley Leighton. Her choral experience began at only eight years old with the Los Robles Children’s Choir under the direction of Donna Young. She was a member for ten years until she was eighteen, and later became an assistant conductor in 2010-2012. At only sixteen years old, Ms. McDonald was a featured soloist at Mozart’s 250th birthday celebration choral festival in Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague under the baton of Z. Randall Stroope and János Czifra.  

Ms. McDonald also has a strong theatrical background as well, ranging from Polly in Gershwin’s CRAZY FOR YOU, Hodel in Bock’s THE FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Laurey in Hammerstein’s OKLAHOMA, to Rosie in Stewart’s BYE BYE BIRDIE. 

She has received awards from organizations such as the Village Voices Scholarship, CLU’s Visual and Performing Arts, and the CSUN’s Robert Barbara Scholarship for Voice. Megan Lindsey enjoys singing for local charity events and galas at locations such as the Ronald Reagan Library and California Lutheran University. She has been a soloist for the Simi Valley Rotary Club, and also for New Hope Lutheran Church of Agoura Hills.

Megan Lindsey teaches private voice lessons in Ventura County, California. She trains young singers through proper vocal technique and fundamentals of music. Her other skills include ballroom dance, ballet, jazz, and tap.
